National property consultancy Leaders Romans Group (LRG) has announced a nationwide partnership with the Trussell Trust.
The Trussell Trust provides emergency food to people who are facing hardship, as well as support to help people resolve the problems they face.
As a key part of the local communities in which they are based, all of the branches in LRG’s network of estate agency brands including Gibbs Gillespie, Portico, Scottfraser, Leaders, Romans, Moginie James and Hose Rhodes Dickson will act as donation centres for their local food banks, working in partnership to support local communities.
The cost of living is leading to an increased need for food banks and the Trussell Trust has continued to work tirelessly to ensure that local people have access to quality food and other essential items.
Between April and September last year, the Trussell Trust’s food bank network provided 1.3 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis. More emergency food parcels were given out during this period than ever before for this time of year. There are over 360 food banks across England and Wales.
As early as May 2022, the Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN), representing 550 independent food banks, found 93% of IFAN food banks surveyed in May 2022 reported an increase or significant increase in the need for their services since the start of 2022. Of the food banks reporting increases, 95% said it was due to the rise in the cost of living.
As part of LRG’s support, the Group will be undertaking a series of fundraising events alongside collecting donations.
Across the UK we are facing a cost-of-living crisis, resulting in more and more people turning to food banks for support. This new national partnership with the Trussell Trust helps us to challenge the structural issues that pull people into poverty to ensure the people of tomorrow will never need to use a food bank at all.
“We’ve been delighted to support the Trussell Trust through our planning consultancy, Boyer, over the last 12 months, and have lots more exciting initiatives coming up nationwide.”
The Trussell Trust’s aim is for the UK without the need for food banks. The charity supports a nationwide network of food banks, providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, along with campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
